Not all big SUVs are created equally. If you’re looking for a model that’s not only sizable but luxurious, you can’t go wrong with the new Cadillac Escalade. Let’s see how it compares to one of its biggest competitors: the Chevy Tahoe.
Power and Performance
The Cadillac Escalade has a meaty 6.2-liter V8 engine that pumps out 420 horsepower and 460 lb.-ft. of torque. For such a big vehicle, this SUV handles extremely well, and it stays composed even when taking sharp turns. It also provides a silky-smooth ride, which can be augmented with an adaptive air suspension and Magnetic Ride Control.
The Chevy Tahoe also comes with a V8 engine, but it's a 5.3-liter unit that will only give you 355 horsepower and 383 lb.-ft. of torque. Some critics have noted that this SUV has trouble maintaining control on bumpy roads.
Comfort
The three-row Cadillac Escalade has a huge interior that accommodates up to seven people. You can also get a second-row bench to increase that to eight. All three rows are spacious, and even adults won’t mind sitting in the third row. Numerous amenities are standard, including:
- Power-adjustable front seats
- Synthetic leather upholstery
- Heated front and second-row seats
- Heated steering wheel
- Power folding second- and third-row seats
The Chevy Tahoe can also fit eight people, but the third row can feel cramped. Plus, power folding seats and a heated steering wheel aren’t offered.
Technology
The Cadillac Escalade comes with numerous standard tech features, including a huge 16.9-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system. You will also get:
- Remote start
- HD and satellite radio
- Navigation
- 19-speaker AKG Studio stereo
- Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay® integration
- Wireless device charging
- Wi-Fi hot spot
- USB ports
- Bluetooth® connectivity
The Chevy Tahoe has some of the same features, but navigation and wireless device charging require an upgrade.
The Cadillac Escalade clearly comes out on top in all of these categories. Come down to Fields Cadillac St. Augustine to take it out for a spin.
