Does something seem a little off with your Cadillac? Or perhaps more than just a little? Then it could be time to bring it into our Cadillac service department. These are some signs you definitely don’t want to ignore.
Unusual Sounds or Smells
Anything out of the ordinary with your car needs to be checked out quickly. If you’re hearing a high-pitched sound, for example, this may be related to a thinning brake bad. If you regular smell a burning odor, this could be due to a burned-out fuse or an overheated compressor in the air conditioning system.
Loss of Power
No matter which Cadillac you drive, surely it has a lot of power. But, if you’ve noticed that lately it is lacking, this could mean that you are overdue for an oil change. Old oil gets thick, and when this happens, it can’t keep the moving parts in the engine as well lubricated as they need to be. The result is that less horsepower can be produced.
More Frequent Fill-Ups
Are you having to stop to fill up your tank a lot more often than usual? This is something else that may be connected to old oil. When it gums up the works, the engine isn’t able to run as efficiently, and this can really hurt your gas mileage. Underinflated tires also affect fuel economy.
Strange Movements
If your car seems to have a mind of its own and pulls you in one direction or another, the culprit is probably an out-of-whack wheel alignment. The issue may also be related to certain tires that are more inflated than others.
Apparent Leaks
If you see puddles of fluid pooling under your car, you likely have a leak. You can typically identify the culprit by the color of the fluid:
- Oil: Light Brown to Black
- Transmission fluid: Red to reddish-brown
- Power steering fluid: clear to reddish-brown
- Brake fluid: Yellow to brown
- Coolant/anti-freeze: Blue-green or pink
